Zuckerberg calls Apples virtual reality worse

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, took a jab at Apple’s ‘closed’ system when he remarked that Meta’s “metaverse is supposed to be ‘open’ for everybody,” in contrast to Apple’s forthcoming virtual reality platform.

Since the closed ecosystem (Apple’s) has prevailed in mobile, he told The Verge, we must ensure that the open ecosystem prevails once again in the next generation of computers.

The head of the IT giant has said that both open and closed ecosystems have existed throughout the history of computers. Closed ecosystems place a premium on integration and strict control to provide unique experiences and lock in users. However, in the long run, the platform benefits most from this. He used the differences between Windows and macOS, as well as Android and iOS, to illustrate his point.

During the interview, Zuckerberg responded to a question about Apple’s mixed reality headset by saying the company would hurt competing VR systems if it exercised the same kind of control over the device as it does over the Mac and the iPhone. He speculated that, in the future, when they saw this competition, they would attempt to impede us. Moreover, it’s become pretty clear that their incentives for acting are not as altruistic as they pretend.

With the hope that people would start using them for work and pleasure in the undiscovered “metaverse,” the company Meta has developed a high-end virtual reality headset.

He listed Microsoft, Autodesk, and Accenture as just some of the partners he’s worked with to develop products for Meta’s open platform.

In an earlier interview, Zuckerberg indicated that he would welcome partnerships with companies working on VR goggles. We need to sort out the specifics, he added, adding that he is interested in working with companies like Samsung “at the proper moment.”
