Twitter Discourages Users to Capture Screenshots of Tweets

twitter discourages screenshots

According to a report by Techcrunch, Twitter is attempting to discourage users from capturing screenshots by presenting them with pop-ups whenever they attempt to acquire a screen grab. The microblogging service is encouraging users, through pop-ups, to share tweets rather than take screenshots. Twitter seems to be limiting the practise of taking screenshots because it would rather its users engage in more conversation inside the service rather than posting the screenshots elsewhere online.

Many kind of pop-ups are being seen by Twitter users. When some individuals attempt to capture a screenshot, they see the “Copy Link” button, while others see the “Share Tweet” button, and still others get a dialogue box containing both choices. Twitter obviously wants to encourage its users to engage with one another, so it’s not surprising that it would benefit from people sharing tweets. Users who aren’t already on Twitter may decide to create an account so that they may more easily communicate with their contacts who use the service if the business decides to make it harder in the future to snap screenshots. The strategy is designed to attract more “monetizable” users to Twitter, who will then be targeted with advertisements.

Additionally, WhatsApp has begun beta testing a new feature that would disable the ability to take screenshots of View Once material. Mark Zuckerberg released this privacy feature in August with the intention of increasing the safety of View Once media. The Android beta version 2.22.22.3 of WhatsApp has reportedly begun rolling out, as reported by WABetaInfo in a tweet. The View Once content function is now under beta testing with a small group of users, and the firm has not said when the stable version of this tool will be made accessible. It is hoped that the option to prevent screenshots from being taken of View Once photographs will soon be available to users.
